I have found this text useful in my Early Childhood Studies degree. It is clearly set out and has an up to date approach. Includes a chapter on children's rights.

Interesting and informative read.
Very relavent to "Nature of Education" "History of Education" and "Childhood" modules.
Higher level reading than A levels, brilliant to reference from for degree essays.
Really makes you think whilst covering childhood and society themes and perspectives.
