Seeing makes it real, 31 Dec 2002
I was awed and fascinated with this book 26 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter (and very curious about what was happening in my body and with my growing child). I'm getting it for her as her child develops within her. The fact that it is still in print speaks well for the timelessness and universality of the info contained. The pictures are exceptional and inspiring-- a must for any parent- or grandparent-to-be!

An excellent guide to the process of pregnancy, 23 Jan 2002
By A Customer
My partner and I found this book to be an excellent reference guide during our first pregnancy. We constantly kept refering to it as an insight into what is happening during the process of building a human being.
The internal colour photographs are particularly informative and gave us both a real understanding of how our baby was developing and maturing.
The process is set out in a logical chronological manner and explains about the physical changes for the mother and the foetus at all stages of pregnancy.
In summary this was a very informative guide that stayed with with throughout the entire 40 week journey to the birth.
Highly Recommended.

Highly recommended, incredible and informative., 30 July 2001

This book is an amazing journey that takes the reader from the start of a relationship through conception and pregnancy, to the birth and beginning of a child's life outside the womb.
Lennart Nilsson's photographs charting this journey are amazing and enlightening, and the text by Lars Hamberger covers wide ranging-issues, including developmental markers for both mother and baby, health needs, procedures and birth methods, and the role partners and family might play.
Whether you are an expectant mother, a relative, friend or partner, or someone who in involved in the pro-choice and pro-life debate, this book is a visually breathtaking, stimulating way to inform yourself.
