Product Description

The truth is that for at least part of the time, childbirth can be painful. It is equally true that there is an enormous amount that you, your partner, your midwife and doctor can do to help you cope confidently, reduce any pain - even obliterating it altogether. Childbirth Doesn't Have to Hurt covers all the possible pain relief options, their pros and cons, as well as providing first-hand accounts of women's experiences of the different methods, from epidurals, pethidine, Entonos and TENS, to acupuncture, aromatherapy, massage, hypnotherapy, water, homeopathy and visualization. Finally, a wide-ranging directory of relevant organisations and services that will ensure that you are not only fully informed of the choices available, but able to gain access to the treatment you feel would suit you best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great resource, very comprehensive, 31 July 2011
This review is from: Child Birth Doesn't Have to Hurt (Paperback)
This is an excellent resource as it covers all aspects of pain management. From the very natural to medical options.
I really like the bredth of this book as it paints the full picture and all the options available. I am personally very interested in natural techniques and used this approach with my first son successfully but ensured I was open to and informed about all the medical options in case I did feel they were necessary. In fact I found knowing what medical help was available and allowing myself to use it if necessary was one of the best ways to avoid it...like a safety net! This book is a useful resource in preparing for birth and knowing your options.
