Great for beginners!,

I bought this book after i decided to take up knitting again having learned from my Nanna as a child. Although not a complete beginner this book was a great reminder. It is well laid out and goes through all the basic equipment needed plus information on yarn types. The book is organised in lessons and in each chapter you learn a new stitch or technique and then use it to make the garment in the lesson. The range of things to make is great. They range from scarves to bags to jumpers to hats for both women and men. I liked nearly every single pattern!
This would be a fantastic book for beginners who have no experience or for people like myself who have a little knowledge. The only thing i didn't realise was that this is an american book but they provide a conversion chart with regards to needle size so there's no confusion.

Great knitting patterns, slightly confusing American terminology though.,

I loved the patterns, most of them are very wearable but some of the instructions need a bit of 'translation' as it is an American book. I also found that the yarns used in the patterns were mostly very expensive types so in order to make it worthwhile I have had to choose cheaper types of wool, with not always perfect results. It will take a bit of practise getting used to changing the yarns for the patterns.
Still the book is a great beginners one and usually easy to follow. I have however become confused when trying to follow some of the stitches, although that's probably down to my beginner-ness.

Refreshing!,

I bought this for a young trendy neice who is just starting out in knitting. Although on first flick through it looked to be rather advanced - on closer inspection it will take her through the basics and build on them. The patterns all look manageable and are both beautiful and practical. The book is beautifully laid out. Wool weights are in USA jargon but I can translate those for her. I'll be buying a copy for myself.
