I ordered this having been a knitter for a couple of years, I decided to learn to crochet. I didn't want to make 70's type stuff and this book is full of funky & modern clothing and accessories. I have mastered the basic stitches quickly and have started on my first project. It guides you through using different patterns with increasing complexity and I would definiately recommend it if you want to learn and make some gorgeous things for yourself and others. Lots of useful tips and hints too - enjoy!

I taught myself how to crochet using this book and have managed, using what I learned here, to progress to more complicated patterns elsewhere, but I still return to this book time and time again because I think it has some of the easiest to follow instructions in any learn to crochet book I've seen. I also own another book on learning to crochet which I use a lot less often because although some of the projects in that book are different and things I am interested in making, the instructions weren't nearly as good. The projects in this book are things you'd actually want to make and use, and I've made many of them as gifts for other people. I think my only complaint would be that there seemed to be a lot of project patterns for jumpers/garments. Some more variety in things to make would have been better, but as a starter, it's excellent.

nothing i'd say 'wow' about though.
two dog coat patterns if that's what you want to make!
american terminology so be careful if your only used to english
terms.
