i brought this book on kindle because it was a really good price. myself amd my husband talked about keeping chicken and didn't really know much about what to do. This book is written in a light hearted way, easy to read plenty of info with out confusing you. Explans everything about getting the right coop, keeping foxes out, birds of prey and dealing with some of the problems a chicken can get i.e egg bound. we are now the proud owners of 3 ladies and everyday they have done something to make us laugh. if you are thinking about getting chickens as pets this ia a good book to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A really helpful book 17 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Although I've been keeping chickens for several years, I nonetheless found some very useful tips in this book. It is written in a style that makes it easy to read and there is no jargon that only experts would understand - unlike some of the chicken care books I've read.

I can thoroughly recommend this book, whether you are just starting out as a chicken-keeper or have experience in looking after them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant book 28 Jun 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I nearly didn't buy this book as I already keep a few hens but after downloading the sample I realised this was no ordinary reference book, this is a personal account of one man who loves chickens and wants to share not only all the things he has learnt but also stories and experiences with his own ladies. I actually read the whole book in a day, This is also a book I will be able to refer back to as it has lots if very useful information on things that can go wrong with your girls but I don't want to dwell on that. I only wish this book had been around when I had my first chickens then I wouldn't have had to learn by experience this person has done that for me :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Chicken's forever !! 13 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I got my chuck's 6 weeks ago and was told by my daughter to download this book as I would find everything I would need to know about chickens. She was right, great book, excellent information, well written and very easy to understand. I only wished I did this years ago. I have a couple of horses and a large gang of dog's so I am used to mucking and just spending time just watching my pal's do what they do. It's a great life. Get some chicks and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is brilliant ! 18 April 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Chickens as pets is a brilliant book, it is written in a very friendly style and is full of lots of information. We operate a collection point for Fresh start for hens and rehome ex commercial hens and this is the only book I'm recommending to rehomers.
I have kept chickens for 13 years now and we never stop learning and sharing experiences. I personally have read the whole book cover to cover and it's the best I've read.
The chicken keeping community within the UK is very strong and a great place to be.
If you are new to keeping chickens or you have kept them for years this is the book for you, it's great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chickens as pets 15 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have kept chickens for a number of years and I came across this book on a FB site called by the same name. Ive got this on my kindle and it is an absolutely "cant put this book down" read and Ive learnt a lot more about how to treat the chickens when ill and lots more, its going to be my reference book for dealing with any probs with mine. The author has written it through his experiences with his own chickens and I think anybody who is thinking of getting chickens for the first time, to buy or download this book, it will help them make the decision about having chickens or not, because like all pets, chickens are for life too. Absolutely would recommend this book to all who have chickens or are thinking about getting them.
