4.0 out of 5 stars fun, lively, easy reading for girls, 10 April 2002

Alma Fritchley reminds me very much of the early Val Mcdermid books for women's press. Fritchley has a genuinely humourous undertone and thoroughly likeable characters that easily ovrcome the slight weakness in the plot.
I enjoyed the whole series. Letty has an attractive, light-hearted quality that draws you in (as one of the reviewers of her first book Chicken Run commented) and the series is ideal for holiday reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another enjoyable visit to the chicken farm, 24 Oct 2001
This review is from: Chicken Shack (A Letty Campbell mystery) (Paperback)
Alma Fritchley has created a cheerful and inviting world set in rural Lancashire and urban Manchester.

In this book she solves the mystery of how she came to inherit the farm from her aunt.

The plot concerning an ajoining farm is a little convoluted for me, however her writing style carries you along. Her own relationship problems are a bit contrived, however you are left wanting to know who the next co-tenant of the Chicken Farm will be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun!, 19 July 2001
By "blissengine" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Chicken Shack (A Letty Campbell mystery) (Paperback)
Letty Campbell, a chicken farmer in England, sells part of her property to a woman from Texas who's establishing a health resort. Letty's mother, newly engaged, has been receiving mysterious phone calls, which may be from her husband-to-be's estranged daughter. When Letty's car is driven off the road, she can't help but think she's targeted, but by whom? Is it connected to a local escaped convict, or to the health club next door? Letty would much rather spend time with her new girlfriend, than get involved in yet another mystery, but she finds that sometimes there's no choice. It's a thrilling and exciting mystery from an author who deserves more attention here in the U.S.
