Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The Chicco Goodnight Stars Projector Musical Nursery Toy creates a magical atmosphere for bedtime--the enchantment of the projected starts and the relaxing musical background help the newborn baby to go to sleep, reassuring him. The melodies of Bach, and Rossini, the New Age pieces and the sounds of nature follow each other in an ideal selection to provide an important first approach to music. The Chicco Goodnight Stars Projector can also be used as a coloured lamp, accompanying the child with the soft lights into the world of dreams. The cute character can be detached from the star on which it is sitting and become a soft play companion. This Chicco Muscial Nursery Toy has 2 modes of operation: projector and lamp, or music by Bach and Rossini and the sounds of nature.

The music is of a good quality and a suitable choice; the projected stars are quite clear. However, the only way the projected image attracts my baby's attention is if I manually spin the unit around, making the stars move. I wish I had bought one where this process is automated. The stars do change colour but this is so gradual it is hardly noticeable. The toy falls off whenever you move the projector, which gets annoying.

Update January 2012: I have now added a 3rd star to my review as now my son is a toddler he does enjoy it. He likes to pick it up and make the stars move on the ceiling, he likes all of the music apart from one that is the sounds of the rainforest which upsets him for some unknown reason! We now have a second baby who, at 3 months old, doesn't take any interest in it whatsoever.

Very attractive projector, the stars are pretty but not too stimulating. It's a shame there isn't any choice of which tune/noise you get, it just cycles through the whole lot, which is a bit jarring.

Not sure what the point of the cuddly toy is, I wouldn't let a baby play with the projector itself and detached it's just a fairly standard small cuddly toy.

I bought with vouchers, I would have probably been less satisfied if I had paid the full price.

Nice yet not perfect 28 Oct 2011
    By K
Lovely thing. Bought it for the twins, with expectation of entertaining the little ones while they are awaiting their feeds... It kind of did not work out like that. The stars projector is not strong enough to project the clearly focused image onto the ceiling, if the device is placed on the floor... I have to, so that the both of the kids get the "view". So, the viewing experience is really no experience at all, for it all is just a blurry light shapes. No rotation on the star disk either, which is a bit of a down fall. The music option is rather OK though. Not at all annoying baby music, but totally tolerable by grownup.

I would have not bought this, should I have known that the star experience is not going to be there. But as a gift for a single baby, who's got some shelving by the bed and a low ceiling bedroom... this would be nice.

    We love this toy
Our 8 month old loves this toy - he holds the projector himself and looks up at the stars on the ceiling with great delight. It's a lovely treat before bedtime.
