5.0 out of 5 stars Caddy Knapsack - good buy! 10 Sep 2009
This seems well made & with unisex colours, my husband happy to carry it too!, and its not heavy. Straps adjust well; although female users probably wont fasten the extra strap that goes accross (the top of your chest!) between the 2 shoulder straps. It folds quickly and easily, and the "stand" means easy to sit child in first and then put on your back. When in freestanding seat mode, its great for child to stay put, if you stop to eat etc.

Son (22 months) very happy in it, can see over your shoulder from the seat, and great for dog walking where even an all terain pushchair is no use when stiles are found on route! GOOD BUY as the adjustable canopy, rain attachemnt, phone holder and small carry bag are all included too.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic! 19 April 2010
Great product, fairly priced, light weight, and comfortable for both adult and child, what more could you ask for! Only two complaints -top strap not great for women as it sits right across the chest but its not a big issue ( i just took my strap off and reattached it a little higher. -it has a convenient stand, which makes it much easier to put your child in and take them out especially if you're on your own but once you have the carrier on your back it is imposable to put the stand back down and is very bulky to carry with the stand out, i have resorted to asking passing strangers for help when on my own. But this should not put you off buying this carrier, which even comes with a small rain cover that zips on to the hood, ideal for light showers.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy it. 12 Jan 2012
By Bob
We bought this product with high hopes as read plenty of positive reviews however I was greatly disappointed, We received it early on the morning so were able to have a play. as it looks, it doesn't look too bad until you take a close look to see that its rather clunky and does look a bit cheap. The straps to strap little one in are the worst i have ever saw. there's no padding on them and the shoulder ones just hook over and can slip off if not tight enough (design floor me thinks) The sun visor/top cover doesn't even cover the full carrier so if little one leans forward which i think they will the cover is pointless as it doesn't come over far enough. At this point i still kept an open mind as there's pro's and con's with everything. So we popped the little one in and he was very happy, he did look comfortable. The same couldn't be said for me. The shoulder straps dug in to my shoulders, the padding that comes in to contact with your back doesn't seem to exist all I could feel was the plastic pushing on to my lower back, because of the overall shape and design nothing takes the weight and it just pulls your shoulders apart the chest strap sits on your ribs so again no weight distribution here and little one felt he had put on a stone or two it actually made him feel heavier, but at least the waist belt is fairly ok. Oh and it is impossible to push the supporting legs in if you're on your own (suppose you could flag a stranger down.lol) the small bag that comes with it could come in handy for a bag of tissues, not big at all not that i expect a day sack there just something more convenient. So basically I see the appeal its a good price but you can see why. If you were thinking on such a product then save the hassle and look at brands that know what they're doing like deuter as I have also tried their version and its hands down a million times better. Hope this helps with your decision and saves your back from torture.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this item 12 April 2010

Purchased this when my son was around 6 months and have usd it almost daily. It is sturdy and secure and my litle one enjoys riding in it and looking around and leaves me two hands to carry shopping etc. He is 14 months now though and won't get in it as he prefers to walk, however, overall i would highly recommend this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great bargain backpack carrier 3 May 2011
By Ad
The carrier was pretty easy to use, I could carry my 17mth old, 25lb daughter fairly easily, and it was a good price.
The only weaknesses I found were:

- As others have said, you can't put the leg away when you've put it on, which makes it cumbersome (in fact it's a bit stiff when you've got it on the ground), but you learn to work with it

- The shoulder strap adjustment is quite stiff, and I found the comfort to really depend on adjusting them right, if it were slightly too tight or loose it was uncomfortable on the shoulders, but once in the right place it was fine, so make sure you practice a few times to get comfy.

Otherwise, I'd recommend it to anyone!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great baby carrier 15 Mar 2013

Great baby carrier in unisex colours. The accessories (rain hood, small bag, glasses carrier) are good and easy to fit/use. It is also one of the lightest backpacks I could find.

I rated it 4 rather than 5 star because of the stand. As other reviewers have mentioned, the stand is really hard to put away yourself when you have the backpack on - and there's definitely a 'knack' to doing it which flummoxes some people who try to help! However you can just walk with the stand leg out if you need to.

Overall I think this is a great buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for taking the dog for a walk 10 April 2011
Verified Purchase
Chicco Caddy Backpack (Race)For the price I doubt you'll get better, I bought this with a view to taking it on holiday, and to build up my stamina using it before we go by taking my son and the dog for walks. My son jiggles up and down and giggles with glee once in there and pats my head to make me go faster or so he can point at things.
There are many good points and a few niggles It is well padded but does start to get uncomfortable after an hour for me but I do have an ongoing back problem, having said that it was only mildly uncomfortable. My son is 1 so not the lightest!
The instructions are quite frankly awful, for example the stand catch - you have to push the button and pull down the catch to fold down the stand, I can just reach to do it at the start of a walk but not at the end when my arms are tired, you'd need a friendly passer by or a companion with you. there also needs to be instructions on how to fold it down.
The bag that comes with it is a little ill though out as it's designed with a catch at the back so it would sit under the bottom of the carrier and dig in - if Chicco had left it just with loops to feed the waist strap through it would work and was a little larger. I'm trying to work out if I can attach a small rucksack to it so I can carry all the things I need for a active toddler and to keep my energy up - a little inventivness is all that's needed.

Served us well for around 4 years and 2 children. It's not the most glam or compact of carriers, but it works, it's lasted and it is good value. Read more
