No job is more stressful, dangerous or exhilarating than those of the Firefighters, Rescue Squad and Paramedics of Chicago Firehouse 51. These are the courageous men and women who forge headfirst into danger when everyone else is running the other way. But the enormous responsibilities of the job also take a personal toll. With big reputations and hefty egos, the pressure to perform and make split-second decisions is bound to put the squad members at odds/ When it‚s ‚go-time‚ though, they put their differences aside and everything on the line for each other.

I am a huge fan of this show. one Wednesday about 5/6 weeks into it's airing on Sky living i was flicking through and found this show and was hooked straight away. 9pm it was on average a week behind what went out in America. It was Fast paced action and had funny moments as well it is in truth alot like Third Watch or for the older Uk people London's Burning (when it was at it's best) with a excellent cast great storylines and even a spin off after one series (Chicago PD). I would recommend this to anyone into Emergency shows like Third Watch, Southland, Blue Bloods or for UK fans The Bill, London's Burning (or the rather poor rip off of London's Burning) Steel river blues.

Some of the cast will be known to people like Lt. Casey used to be in Neighbours and Chief Boden Was in the 88/89 episode's of The Bill.

I wasn't expecting much from Chicago Fire. I expected easy watching, soap opera style drama and basically a show that I could leave on in the background and forget about. What I actually got was a show that is action packed, funny when it needs to be, moving when that's called for and most importantly, entirely believable. From the characters right through to the fire-fighting, every part of this show feels real and exciting making for a very addictive TV show.

A hell of a lot happens in this first series which bypasses the problem of filler episodes, my main problem with a 22-24 episode series. In fact, so much happens in the first 24 episodes of this first show that by the end of the series it will feel as though you have seen far more than just one season.

If I had to pick a flaw it would be that every time an event in the show seems to be about to make some serious change to the show, something will happen last minute to return the show to the status quo. However, this is only a small thing as the stories are well written and none of this feel forced.

Overall it comes down to a simple fact of this being a highly enjoyable show that is incredibly addictive. This is a truly impressive TV drama.

24 episodes focus on a team of firefighters - daily dangers interwoven with personal problems.

Scripts are taut, acting impressive. Attention is at once grasped by Episode 1's tragic death of a colleague. From now on we know any characters we particularly like may suddenly perish or be forced out of the job by serious injuries. Coming over strongly is the sense of fraternity. Whatever their differences, when that alarm sounds, all are united as they speed off in their bid to save lives. Similarly when one of their number is in deep trouble, the team rallies round to support.

Inevitably much disturbs: spectacular blazes, horrendous road carnage, hazardous rescues on high, heartrending moments when desperate attempts to rescue do not succeed. Additional problems include gangs, guns and drugs - not to mention a dirty senior cop who makes life very difficult. Fortunately there is much humour too.

Bonuses include brief backgrounds to several episodes and thirteen podcasts from firefighter Otis, he musing about aspects of the job.

The series proved so addictive, I am straight off to view the second season. Chicago's police often feature, they destined for a spin-off (crossover episodes promised).

If high standards are maintained, there is thus a lot to look forward to.

In short? Uplifting and great.

I am a big fan of this show and its spin off's. Following the lives of firefighters within the chicago fire department, this show has lots of tense episodes and deep character story lines. This show will get a grip on you and wont let go.
10/10 from me and i would also recommend watching chicago PD after this as its all linked.

I had to buy this as I watched Chicago PD, which I loved, on TV and there was a crossover episode including the Chicago Fire cast. I gave SKY up a couple of years back due to the cost so had not seen any of the Chicago Fire series. Bought this and was so hooked had to buy the second series as well. Very good cast, well balanced, good story lines some of which I believe are based on actual rescues undertaken by the fire services. I know they are coming to the end of series three on US tv so cannot wait for that to be released on DVD.....have to admit I have cheated and gone onto the NBC website to see who survived the final episode of series two...not giving anything away....watch it !

I was very dubious about buying this as I had not heard anything about it. I am so glad I made that purchase, it is a really good drama series. I think if you are fans of Grey's Anatomy you will really enjoy this. It has the same sort of content - drama, accuracy regarding fire situations - Grey's obviously was medical - individual personal stories. Everything a good drama series needs. It took me about two /three episodes to get into it, but by the end of the series I found that the cast has grown into their roles and formed a very tight unit. I did have a few tears in some of the episodes and apart from Grey's no other drama series has made me do that!.
