Chicago Cab (aka hell cab?) 1998
This film is enjoyable because of it's real life antics and a Cab Drivers life can at times be a kind of a nightmare. It is a day/night in the life of a cab driver in December, who picks up normal and strange fares/passengers in his cab, some may be in need of a social worker rather than a Cab drivers advice or shoulder to cry on so to speak.
There is no real story (as in a big expensive blockbuster movie kind of way) to tell you about and it could even be called a slightly weird/cult movie by some, though it is quite 'true to life' really & partly funny too.'Dead job' call outs, customer vandalism, amorous elderly females, drug infused unpredictable behaviour and all sorts abound,as well as the drivers own fears and frustrations, this is not a documentary movie but almost could be and it is enjoyable for sure.
Many of us will have known some these types of people, though for some reason they may either ignore that someone is there driving the vehicle and possessing perfectly good hearing - or try to immerse him into conversation, though sometimes he even unwittingly draws his own self into it.
Religion,Drugs,Loneliness,Rape & other subjects appear into conversation, maybe he shouldn't get involved in some or even any of these topics ?
I had to watch it all & wished that there was a 2nd movie,i couldn't help comparing the Chicago Cab Drivers shift to the work of British Cab drivers many experiences seem to be the same. One to see as its different & not not just a usual mode movie.
