This is the actual debut album from Chic, and i'm wondering if it was ever given an official GB release. My vinyl copy is a US "cut-out", bought an awfully long time ago. And my (US) cd copy was picked up in an obscure outlet in Bournemouth. From the looks of things, "Chic" would appear to have been given a long-overdue GB release.

Purchasers will, of course, be familiar with a couple of tracks on this set. "Dance, Dance, Dance" and "Everybody Dance" feature on this album, although they were both included on the original GB version of the "C'est Chic" LP. (The US version of "C'est Chic" was issued with only eight tracks.)

The remainder of the album does not disappoint, in the slightest. There's the excellent instrumental "Sao Paulo", the buoyant "You Can Get By", the pretty "Est-Ce Que C'est Chic?" and the romantic "Falling In Love With You". The album is brought to a close with the brassy, up-tempo "Strike Up The Band".

Maybe not quite the equal of the better-known "C'est Chic" and "Risque", but "Chic" isn't far off from being every bit as good as the albums which came afterwards. Purchasers will be able to see that the excellent songwriting and trademark musicianship were already in place. This was one group which hit the ground running.
