5.0 out of 5 stars Chet's cooking up reading 13 Nov 2005
By Gwynne C. Spencer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Spiral-bound
Chet Gecko, not to be confused with GEICO, solves mysteries with wit and punditry, and cooks up great stories as well. This collection includes several recipes sure to please even the most reptilian tastes, and entice kids (esp. boys) into reading more of the series. Once you read Chet Gecko, you can never listen to Garrison Keillors Adventures of Guy Noir without laughing out loud and thinking of Chet transported out of his lovely lizard body and into Mr. Noir's world. If the Sweet Potato Queens turned into geckos and wrote a book for kids, this would be the result.

5.0 out of 5 stars great detective handbook (a review by Eli 7 years old) 9 July 2006
A Kid's Review - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Spiral-bound
This is a great and funny book. Even the recipes are pretty funny. Not only that this book is funny but it is also good at teaching kids how to be a Private Eye (PI). Another great thing about this book is that three authors worked together on it, which makes it very interesting. The recipes are great as well. The funniest thing about this book is when the bird and Chet Gecko write what they are saying. This is one of the funniest books I have ever read.

Thanks for this good copy of the Chet Gecko Detective Handbook and Cookbook. My grandson is a great fan of the Chet Gecko stories and he doesn't have this handbook and cookbook. I look forward to giving it to him.
5.0 out of 5 stars More Than Just a Children's Book 4 Sep 2013

I bought this for my grandson who is 7 1/2 years old. He LOVED it! Not only did he like the content, but he was very excited about the recipes inside, the section for notes, and the great spiral-bound format of the book. He walked around showing it to all in the room! He was very excited about the book; what more can you ask for!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great combination! 17 Dec 2012

I have a teenager who used to read these years ago, and has taken some cooking classes since. So, what more fun than to combine those two, and tempt him into having even more fun! Works great. Wonderful idea! (Kids just love being able to try book or movie characters out in real life, as you might say. It's a great combination of reality and imagination.)
