I'm 26 now, but I still remember reading all Particia Leitch's books with a passion- how sad that there are so very few still in print.Buy those that are and scour those 2nd hand bookshops for a real treat as the last reviewer recommended. The Jinny series, of which Chestnut Gold and Jump for the moon are just two, is gem. The characters are great- artistic, quick tempered red headed Jinny, her beautiful arab Shantih, her perfect sister petra, peaceful friend Ken and other friends and enemies. The plots are exciting, descriptions beautiful and magical.I can still remember much of the plots- I read them that often. The books are set in Scotland and are well written. For anyone who loves the power of horses- buy it. I only wish Ms Leitch would write books targeted for the adult audience now that my pony days are over...

This was the first horsey book I got, I was about 8 or 9 and had just started learning to ride. I always dreamed of owning a pony and had originally wanted an Appaloosa, but the Jinny books made me long for a purebred Arab of my own - and it's a passion which I still have today. In fact one of my Christmas presents was a beautiful coffee-table book on Arabs around the world. I'm still determined to own a purebred Arab horse one day, and maybe I'll name her Shantih! The Jinny books are the best horsey series ever, I'm 30 this year and still have every single one. I loved Jinny's fiestiness and hot temper as I'm a bit like her!

This book also made me want to live in Scotland, another goal on my list! A brilliant series, I would love to turn them into a kids series one day...
