Chester won't mince woofs. From his point of view, he counts on his happy home where he can dig and run and swim. Just about the time Chester's got life by the paws, a huge dog arrives as well as a small kitten. Heavens to pets! Life just isn't the same any more. But he makes the most of it to become a special therapy dog.
Barbara Ebel is a physician-turned author who sprinkles credible medicine into the background of her plots, but her characters and plots take center stage. Since she practiced as an anesthesiologist, her work shines when it comes to operating room scenes.
Novelist Ebel's first novel, Operation Neurosurgeon: You never know...who's in the OR is about the rise and fall of a fictional neurosurgeon in Nashville, TN. Her newest novel, Outcome, A Novel: There's more than a hurricane coming... delves into multiple characters from Indiana to Peru whose lives get entangled after a monstrous storm, including the protagonist's heartwarming dog who escapes the crushed metal pile into the blowing sand and gusty winds.
Besides writing her adult novels, "Doctor Barbara," works her own trained therapy dog and was encouraged to write him into a children's book. The project culminated in her penning and illustrating three children's books using real pictures of her dogs called Chester the Chesapeake. The dog is used as the template to inspire good behavior in children.
Although novelist Ebel has lived up and down the U.S.east coast, she now resides with her husband and pets in a protected wildlife corridor in Tennessee. "Perfect for writing," she says. She believes her head is crammed with material from her varied background just waiting to be put down.
