This book is targeted for the club player, I have enjoyed thoroughly, working my way through each chapter. The writing is clear and concise, the layout and design of the book is good, the chapters are short and to the point.
Herman Grooting has done a first class job, it definitely is on a par with "My System", but is far more easily understood and digested with excellent examples in every chapter.
My rating has gone up nearly 150 points in just over one season and I have to say this book has been the main reason for my modest success.

The book will benefit all players rated between 900- 1500, basically the club player. I have given this book 5 stars as it is on a par with Silman's "How to reassess your chess", and Nimzo's " My System".

By Chris W
Format:Paperback
The book have opened my eyes to a greater understanding of chess. Highly recommended as a start out/overview of positional thinking. Might be books out there that goes deeper, but this will certainly do for most untitled players out there.
Sorry I can't say the same about the delivery of the book. The book was on the road for 3 weeks between england and norway. So I recommend the book, just don't buy it from Amazon.

Excellent approach 7 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback
Chessplayers of my (low) level are faced with several serious challenges in the search for better understanding. Some are easy enough to realize and just require large amounts of work, like opening theory or building a combinational "eye". Others are very much harder to come by, things like positional understanding, finding the correct plan in a given position.

This book adresses that exact problem, the problem af understanding long term strategy, and thus being able to place your pieces correctly, or at least understand where the correct placement might be.

A wonderful book well worth the cash.
