For the first time Cheryl tells her full story, her way. Revealing the truth behind the headlines, this is the only official autobiography, giving the fans the true story they’ve been waiting for. Includes exclusive, personal photos.

The nation’s sweetheart, Cheryl has achieved unrivalled success with Girls Aloud, as a solo artist, a judge on the X Factor, a fashion icon and as the face of L’Oreal. However, the path to fame is rarely easy and for Cheryl it has been a colourful journey.

From happy but humble beginnings growing up on a tough Newcastle estate, Cheryl saw firsthand the damage that drugs and alcohol can do. But this feisty Geordie never gave up on her dreams of being on stage.

With success came a level of fame no one could prepare for. As Cheryl’s career went from strength to strength her personal heartache was played out in the national media. From her divorce to her battles with malaria, Cheryl's every move was captured by paparazzi. There was nowhere for Cheryl to hide. However, a true fighter, Cheryl emerged from every challenge stronger.

Now it’s Cheryl’s turn to set the record straight. In this heartfelt account, she opens up about all of the incredible ups and downs of her life. Told with searing honesty this is Cheryl as you’ve never seen her before.

About the Author

Cheryl has made the transition from girl group to solo star seem effortless. From the multiple successes of Girls Aloud who sold over a staggering 10 million records, Cheryl went on to record 2009’s fastest-selling single and her first solo outing, Fight For This Love. Her first solo album went triple platinum and she received two BRIT nominations. Already on the road to mega-stardom, Cheryl was handpicked as an X Factor judge in 2008, becoming an instant hit with viewers. The final season of the X Factor became the most talked about show in Britain, regularly attracting audiences of 15 million. In addition to her music credentials, Cheryl is also a leading style icon, gracing the cover of British Vogue twice, as well as the covers of Harper’s Bazaar and ELLE UK. In 2011 Cheryl announced the launch of her own charity, The Cheryl Cole Foundation with the Prince’s Trust, which aims to work with disadvantaged young people in the North-East of England.

5.0 out of 5 stars The real story behind the Beauty ... 26 Jan 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I am not a celebrity worshipper, by any means but I do love autobiographies, so I found myself reading Cheryl: My Story. I had no prior opinion of Cheryl, other than she seems to be everywhere and is loved for her beauty.

Cheryl showed through her autobiography that she is a very normal, down-to-earth and fair young woman. Despite her beauty and success, there was no evidence that Cheryl is in anyway a lover of her self. And she certainly shows she hasn't been caught up in the celebrity world of excessive spending, forgetting the value of money. She knows where she has come from.

Above all, despite the glamour and success, you see that she was dying inside. I found reading about her divorce and relationship with Ashley, the most heart-breaking. Although, similarly, it is clear she has done well to escape the drugs background on her estate. It is clear that although successful, she clearly values family, privacy and health above all the glitz and glamour of the celebrity world.

I was pleased to read that Cheryl has since found some peace in herself. I'd like to be Cheryl's friend - she is clearly a normal lass with a big heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very honest autobiography 12 Oct 2012
By ShaunOK
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This is the autobiography I have waited years to read. I couldn't care less what the haters say, I love Cheryl Cole and have ever since Popstars: The Rivals way back in 2002. She was my favourite along with Nadine Coyle. People are automatically going to slate this book, rate it one star, say they hate it, whatever. But I have read a lot of autobiographies over the years and can honestly say that this is my favourite and one of the best I have read. Unlike Through My Eyes, this is a 100% honest, from the heart autobiography and Cheryl doesn't hold anything back. The only thing I would say is that certain parts felt a bit rushed and she skimmed over certain things but despite only being fairly young she has had a pretty eventful life and the book was the average size for a celebrity autobiography.

She cites press intrusion as one of the reasons for writing this book and how she wanted to set the record straight, and she has certainly done that. Having previously read Sean Smith's biography of Cheryl, and from reading about her in the press you feel like you know her from all that. And, unlike most biographers, I think Smith is fantastic and you can tell he certainly researches his subjects. That much is obvious from how similar the stories he told are to the ones Cheryl told, but she also talks about stuff that nobody but her could talk about. How she felt about marrying Ashley, why she did tacky photo shoots and sold her wedding to OK!, how the press intrusion and paparazzi really affected her life. I would say that after reading the parts about Ashley Cole, despite not liking him it is clear just how much Cheryl loves him and I wonder whether they will get back together in the future because to me, it seems like he is the only person that can truly make her happy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Southerner with a sense of humour 14 Oct 2012
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Now I am sure there will be the normal haters out there that don't give this book a chance and say it is rubbish without picking it up. No matter what I put here their opinion will not change. For those of you rounded enough to have an open mind and for the down right fans. This book is awesome the girl can seriously write. Yes, I know before I get a 100 emails I am sure someone helped Cheryl Cole write this book. However, if people were interested enough to know about my past and then someone else offered to help write my book I would take the help, who wouldn't. I have to say though, there is enough fact and feelings in this book that this is Cheryl's autobiography written in her words.

The book starts with a women in the hospital recognising Cheryl and asking for her autograph when she was recovering from Malaria. With shame I wonder if I could have been that person asking a sick patient whether I could have their autograph. When do celebrities stop being humans beings? The honesty in the book is at the highest level this is a person who wants us to know about her life warts and all. I love the way that when Cheryl didn't remember aspects of her life she was honest enough to say. I was always concerned at how these celebrities could remember every aspect of their life with no gaps. If I was to take one exception to the whole book it would be Cheryl's mention that southerners did not get a geordie sense of humour. If that is the case why did I find myself chuckling along at passages of the book. It is lovely when an authors personality comes through in their writing.

The book ends with the line "I hope you have enjoyed reading it?' Well, I can say without reservation that yes I enjoyed it very much.

2.0 out of 5 stars My Story or My version of events.... 4 Nov 2012
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Disappointed. Not so much 'My Story' as 'My version of events'.

I have always been and continue to be a fan but this was a bit too 'woe is me' for my liking. Yes she's had some though times but not really so different from thousands of others.

We learn that from a very early age, all she wanted to do was sing, dance and be famous - yet since she found fame on a talent show, has since spent most of it hating the publicity and the 'paps'.

Most of this book is spent talking about how tough things have been for her since she became part of Girls Aloud and her terrible taste in men. There's no doubt her heart was broken by Ashley and you can feel her pain. Heartbreak is hard to deal with and it can't have been nice to go through that in the spotlight - but that is a fact of the world of celebrity we live in.

There's nothing new in this book - just her side of the stories we've heard so much about.

As I said, I still continue to be a fan and I like Cheryl for her gutsy determination and fight - but enough of the woe is me stuff. You've found your fame - so accept that the celebrity status goes with it.
