About the Author

Cheryl has made the transition from girl group to solo star seem effortless. From the multiple successes of Girls Aloud who sold over a staggering 10 million records, Cheryl went on to record 2009’s fastest-selling single and her first solo outing, Fight For This Love. Her first solo album went triple platinum and she received two BRIT nominations. Already on the road to mega-stardom, Cheryl was handpicked as an X Factor judge in 2008, becoming an instant hit with viewers. The final season of the X Factor became the most talked about show in Britain, regularly attracting audiences of 15 million. In addition to her music credentials, Cheryl is also a leading style icon, gracing the cover of British Vogue twice, as well as the covers of Harper’s Bazaar and ELLE UK. In 2011 Cheryl announced the launch of her own charity, The Cheryl Cole Foundation with the Prince’s Trust, which aims to work with disadvantaged young people in the North-East of England.

1.0 out of 5 stars yawn!!!! 3 Jan 2014
By natasha
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book consists of page after page of Cheryl letting us know how much fortune she has amassed ,by doing very little other than looking pretty and marrying a fellow egotistical, self centered being. The fact she felt the need to "display" her naked self on the front cover in order to sell a few copies says it all really.
I felt a little sorry for her after the whole Ashley/adultery saga but after reading chapter upon chapter of "Ashley bought me this , I went here for a well deserved hoilday", and then a few lines of self pity , because her life has been so awful, which I believe someone has advised her to add, so us "lowly" folk dont become too sick of hearing how rich she is now.
Save your money , believe me Ms.Cole doesn't need it!

1.0 out of 5 stars Publicity mongering 28 Dec 2012
By Cazz
Format:Hardcover
I was given this book for christmas and i have to say its one of the worst books i have tried to read, I find it self indulgent, theres no new information in it from what you can read in the newspapers.
A boring book from a talentless has been, sorry to all you fans but buying me this book was a big mistake and it will be going to the next good cause jumble collection i can find. Dont waste your money, the book by Bradcley Wiggins is by far a better read !

I really enjoyed this book - took it away on holiday for beach time reading - a perfect indulgence.

I thought that Cheryl was really honest with her accounts of events, emotions, and activities through her life. I then read Kimberley's book and her recollection of events seemed to match pretty perfectly.

For anyone who is a Girls Aloud or Cheryl fan this is a great read. Or if you are just curious about the woman herself, then definitely worth reading. A great insight into how Girls Aloud worked together, Cheryl's relationships with her family, friends, boyfriends and then-husband.

My one and only criticism is that she is VERY scathing about the media, and at times those parts can get a bit ranty about being followed by the paps, but I think really it is just a reflection of how she felt hounded at the time, and she's just trying to make that point.

Overall, a really lovely book. Perhaps in a few more years there will be a follow up.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read. 29 Oct 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book wasn't on my to read list, I wouldn't say Cheryl Cole is one of my favourite stars but I do like her personality and I like quite a lot of Girls Aloud recordings/used to like watching her on X Factor etc. I saw Cheryl on the Allen Carr chatty man show and she was promoting her autobiography and I just wanted to read it then. I thought she came over really well on the chat show and so I downloaded the kindle sample. It was surprisingly good so I bought the full kindle edition. Cheryl said on the Allen Carr show that so much rubbish had been written about her that just wasn't true and that this was her chance to set the record straight. This is very well written and starts from her childhood and how Cheryl and her family had no luxuries and quite a hard life. From an early age Cheryl shone at singing and dancing and actually got a scholarship to spend some time at The Royal ballet school so she really has some solid training, something I didn't realise. Cheryl won quite a few talent shows at this time. The book is an easy read which keeps your interest going. It has a good selection of photos from childhood right up to the present day. She tells everything like it is including Simon Cowell and her marriage to Ashley Cole. She doesn't bad mouth Ashley she just says what went wrong with their marriage and I really admire how mature Cheryl and her family are in that they can all get on together with Ashley now. This wasn't a book I would have been rushing to the bookshop to buy on release day but in fact I found it a great read, it really changed my mind about Cheryl. Well done Cheryl.

2.0 out of 5 stars My Story or My version of events.... 4 Nov 2012
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Disappointed. Not so much 'My Story' as 'My version of events'.

I have always been and continue to be a fan but this was a bit too 'woe is me' for my liking. Yes she's had some though times but not really so different from thousands of others.

We learn that from a very early age, all she wanted to do was sing, dance and be famous - yet since she found fame on a talent show, has since spent most of it hating the publicity and the 'paps'.

Most of this book is spent talking about how tough things have been for her since she became part of Girls Aloud and her terrible taste in men. There's no doubt her heart was broken by Ashley and you can feel her pain. Heartbreak is hard to deal with and it can't have been nice to go through that in the spotlight - but that is a fact of the world of celebrity we live in.

There's nothing new in this book - just her side of the stories we've heard so much about.

As I said, I still continue to be a fan and I like Cheryl for her gutsy determination and fight - but enough of the woe is me stuff. You've found your fame - so accept that the celebrity status goes with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Quite liked her before I read this 28 Oct 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
As I said, I quite liked Cheryl before I read this, now I just feel very irritated by her.
The main thing that really gets on my nerves throughout the book, is how NOTHING is her fault, she is totally blameless. She plays the victim all the time. She doesn't even take any responsibilty for not doing any preparation or research for climbing Kilimanjiro (sp?), which is absurd really. Where was her reliable gut feeling then?
I did really feel for her during her awful Maleria, but she could have made a small nod of appreciation to the Doctor's and Nurses that helped save her life, but no, only a slight nod to her friend Derek, who just appeared to indulge her throughout the book.
It didn't help that I read this straight after the wonderful Rupert Everitt book, which is way more honest and reflective.
So, sorry Cheryl but I didnt like or enjoy it. You didnt deserve what Ashley (pathetic and weak) did to you, but at the price of this book, the reader deserves better too. But I guess that's not your fault either
