5.0 out of 5 stars Read it and weep, 26 May 2008
By Babaganoosh (North Lincolnshire UK) - See all my reviews
I ordered this book in at my local library and I'm ashamed to say that I was naieve and unprepared for the images and information contained within its covers. I have to admit that while I was reading it, I had really vivid and disturbing dreams. Many people asked me why the hell I chose to read something so depressing but although the book disturbed me it also motivated and enlightened me in a way I find hard to describe. You can't say that this is a 'nice' book but it will certainly leave you a more compassionate, humble and grateful human being after you've read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, 1 April 2006
As a lesson in how cheaply life is sometimes treated and how much we take for granted this book shines above any others I've read. Adi writes as passionately as she lives her life. If this dosen't make you cry both with sadness and happiness then your heart must have gone missing. It should be required reading. If you haven't guessed by now I loved it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing book, 3 Mar 2006
By Alison Gallagher (Dublin, Ireland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book tells the story of the horrific incident in the 1980s when the reactor exploded. It follows an Irish woman who devoted much of her adult life campaigning for these children. She even brought some of them to Ireland and arranged for medical treatment.

It's a story that will have you in tears. Some of the photographs, although evocative, are terrible - showing what nuclear power can do.

Anyone interested in the plight of these Ukranian children since 1986 would do well to read this book.
