Book Description

4 Oct 2012
This is an engrossing, fast-paced read, written by well-known TV sports presenter Steve Rider. Rider s passion for motorsport has stayed with him from his first foray into sports reporting in 1978 for Anglia TV, through his time as one of the BBC s leading sports presenters and highly successful spells anchoring Formula 1 coverage for both the BBC and ITV. With plenty of page-turning appeal, Rider takes us through numerous illuminating experiences both on track and in the studio, recounting insightful and often amusing stories about the true greats he has encountered from Ayrton Senna and Nigel Mansell to Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great insight behind the scenes 27 Oct 2012
Format:Hardcover
I've worked with Steve on many occasions over the years and have always enjoyed his easy style and dry wit, delivered with impeccable comic timing.

He has carried this over into this book which will surely become a 'must-read' for anyone that has followed motorsport over the past few decades.

Steve has wisely skipped over the details that are already in the public domain and has written in a way to take the reader backstage on a private tour of the things happening behind the scenes. He tells it like it is, using his warm humour and self-deprecating wit to keep it light, just stopping short of delivering the killer punch when dealing with things you can guess were not completely to his taste.

Perfect Christmas gift for any motorsport fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved It ! 19 Nov 2012
Format:Hardcover
Couldn't put it down - it brings an intriguing insight into what goes on both in front of and behind the scenes of motor racing which will fascinate all who have even a passing interest in the sport. I never appreciated just how those who have been first-hand witnesses to the many highs and lows of the sport have had to deal with the tragedies and triumphs they have presented to us, the viewers, and Steve through his stylish writing has continued to amuse and amaze. If you buy it for a present, make sure you read it first before wrapping it up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating 14 Dec 2012
Format:Hardcover
A fasinating insight into the world of TV and motorsport. Written by a presenter who has a been there and done that and has the T shirt! From 1978 to date, the author describes how the sport has changed through technology and commerce. Full of wonderful anecdotes and great humour . A brilliant read .
