Nice album a bit different but a must if you like Bon Iver, Midlake and the like. I liked it on the first listen I just wonder if thats a good thing sometimes you get bored quickly if the music is too accessble, however the music on this album is so variable I doubt it.

A wonderful continuation of the Tunng sound..

This is a gorgeous album that melds the beautifully rich sound of Tunng's Mike Lindsay and the expansiveness of contemporary Icelandic music. It saddened me to find out that Tunng collaborators Mike Lindsay and Sam Genders had gone their separate ways but we do benefit by their solo efforts (Sam Genders' Diagrams Black Light and The Accidental There Were Wolves, and Lindsay's Cheek Mountain Thief).
Cheek Mountain Thief is an album packed full of loveliness.. at times it sounds like some twenty different musicians working together, then a pause brings one back to Mike Lindsay's beautiful, hushed voice- thereby creating a lush, and warmly intimate album that has played non-stop on my stereo ever since the postman placed it in my hands. :)
