9 of 10 people found the following review helpful By H. Feddern on 8 April 2006
Format: Audio CD
Bobby Womack is one of the world's most underrated musicians. He has written and performed some of the best music of the last 30-40 years from 'Breezin' by George Benson to 'Across 110th Street'.
This album simply is amazingly introspective and touching at times. With many tracks that have a distinctive edge; but the strength is also its variety - it has bleak and sombre mood tracks such as 'Harry Hippie' but also those uplifting and entertaining ones too.
Bobby Womack has a great voice, but also a great capacity to harmonise his songs like few others and reach out to your spirit like few others can. Its a compelling listen and I would never hesitate in recommending it to anyone.

There appears to be two 'Best Of's carrying the title 'Check It Out'.....one is a single CD, the other a far more comprehensive 2CD set...Although this single CD issue is over 70 minutes long I believe the 'other' version is the one to buy. I have learnt by experience of buying the wrong one...

already had 110th street which got me into Bobby lots of great tracks from this soul legend but also a few fillers which lets the side down a bit.

when i need a pick me up artist that just hits you and talks the way you feel and what you are dealing with then Bobby Womack is that artist. He covers a wide range of styles but his lyrics are the heart and soul of the matter. he raps directly and talks the talk and pulls no punches. this collection highlights he essence and soulful ways. from his vocals to his guitar playing and the arrangements and Productions that just bring you into where he is coming from. always been a huge huge fan and he speaks on the SHO Nuff always. classic songs and very direct. He is a very Underrated Musical Giant.
