5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, 6 Aug 2009
I can't praise this book highly enough - if you are a true hip-hop fan, this is a must-own.
All classic albums, all broken down by the artists themselves - the best bits are the track-by-track breakdowns, though the lead-ups are great too.

There is a lot of much needed history in here as well, as these are all canonical albums whose stories have not been fully uncovered up until now.

I think in time this book's stature will only grow, and it is also great to see a book that actually focuses squarely on the music, and doesn't indulge in academic waffle or trying to figure out what the socio-multi-political-race-poly-post-modern-geo-global-feminism-theory of it all is.

One of the few really good hip-hop books out there.
