This album is a sparkly masterpiece of twee pop, set to a backdrop of growly guitars and electronica. The chalets have produced an album of immediate appeal, with punchy melodies and some fantastic hooks. The saccharine sweet combination of male and female vocal invites obvious comparisons with the magic numbers or even belle & sebastien, but with a more upbeat, electro sound. Overall a very impressive debut.

Why do art schools get all the best bands? The Chalet's album 'Check In' comes on like a sugar rush leaving the listener desperate for another hit once the album finishes. Twee meets blissful electronic noises meets fantastic pop music is what you can expect to hear from this fantastic little five piece.
Girl Boy responsive vocals makes the Chalets stand out from the crowd with their kitsch each of their blissful little pop creations you feel as though you're listening in to a conversation. Every song on the album could very easily be a single with the tempo and tone of songs varying throughout, it's hard to find something to not like about this album, in fact it's pretty impossible. From the opening lines of the impossibly catchy single 'Feel The Machine' to the poigniantly atmospheric sound of 'Fight You Kids', from the sound of summer 'No Style' to the darkness 'Love Punch', this debut album is a cut above the rest.

What a great pop album. There's so little acceptable pop music around these days it's nice to hear uplifting guitar pop with a twist of electronica. The back to back male and female vocals really hit the spot especially on 'Checkout' and 'Gogo Don't Go.' This album should not be played in your car however as the constant head bobbing may cause accidents! Get Involved all!
