Willy DeVille recorderd this ,absolute classic, album in '81 in Paris.
I was 15 and listened to stuff like "My sherona",from the knack.
Blondie, Police and so on.
from Mink deVille I liked "spanish stroll"
And by buying their albums I realised they were much more than a great rock band.
great rock songs are on this one too, but the romantic songs are brilliant.
it is different from anything going on in the early 80's.
Maybe that's why Capitol America did not want to realease it at first, unbelieveable,
Thanks to Emi in France it reached us in Holland.
I can tell you that Doc Pomus ( from "save the last dance for me" to name just ONE song) wrote a couple songs with Willy.
i can tell you Ron Tutt en jerry Scheff( Elvis Presley!) play on it.
So does Steve Douglas on horn( Phil Spector!)And so on.
But just buy it, close the curtains,put it in the cd-player, hold the one you love close to you, or when not there , think of the one you love, and be swepped away.( and sometimes come up for air with the couple "faster" songs in between.)

Oh, and this is a expanded remastered re-release with 8 extra songs live in Holland America and Germany during that period.
And at the end a moving 6 min. intervieuw with Willy and Doc Pomus.
And to end with willy's words ( on the inner sleeve):
"This album ,more than 20 years later,holds up well, I would ,and will still, perform any of the songs live.
"le chat bleu"was a labour of love for me in its creation- a time when I lived a childhood dream while learning lessons from a master, Doc Pomus.
A moment when things old become new, this album is the outcome of a magical time for me and I'm glad I'm able to share it with you again."
