I decided to get some cast iron casseroles about a year ago but was waiting to spot the right bargain and just before Christmas Amazon had a deal on these that I could not ignore. They had the Chasseur Cast Iron Round Casserole 26cm, 22cm and 18cm for under £100 so I bought all three.
I have used them all and they are absolutely brilliant. Browning meat is easy, the flavor is great and you only need a very low heat for a great result. One of the main reasons I bought these was to be able to do more slow cooking in the oven which I have done several times with very good results.
Of course they are very heavy especially when laden with food and the handles get very hot but you will soon get use to that.
It was also a nice surprise to find out that they are dishwasher safe but I haven't put them in the dishwasher yet partly because of their weight but mainly I rather not do that to protect the enamel coating from any possible damage.
Well,these really are the must have coockware for anyone who enjoys cooking and good food.
I have since bought the 26cm griddle pan too so my set is now complete.

since buying our casserole we have fed the family numerous delicious stews, this is an ideal way to use up anything left in the fridge. The casserole is very robust and of extremely high quality.

This super casserole dish comes complete with the 'Chasseur ribbon of authenticity', and a handy little 'Chasseur' usage/care booklet, which includes a recipe idea for each product range.
My favourite recipe in this 'pot' is a hand-me-down, 'Guinness and Beef' casserole, starting off on the hob and transferring to the oven. Even heat distribution and heat retention means that much less energy is used whilst cooking, so highly economical, too.
Suitable for all heat sources. Knob tolerant of oven temperatures up to 200°C, but don't forget your oven gloves.
Relatively easy to wash up by hand, usually requiring a little soaking and a rub with a nylon brush for the more stubborn baked on food remains.
Dishwasher safe.
This size is also currently available in the regular CHASSEUR colours:-

RACING GREEN
along with the new arrivals:-

Brilliant!
Always wanted a decent casserole dish, and this hasn't disappointed. Big enough (26cm) for whole family meals, cooks food beautifully and is easy to clean. Read more
