Product Description

The solid construction from cast iron makes Chasseur an excellent pot for slowly cooking casseroles and stews. The attractive dish will remain hot even after being removed from the oven ensuring that even second helping are served piping hot. Chasseur casseroles and other pans are traditionally made in France from cast iron. An enamel surface is baked on to the cast iron to protect the metal and help with the cooking. Cast iron is an excellent material for cooking casseroles, stews and much more. The Chasseur casserole dishes and other pans will retain heat for longer.

This dish was bought some time ago now for my wife who wanted a dish that would survive the hob, the oven and be easy to clean. What she got was all this and more! So often she's gone for the cheaper option with pans and dishes and ended up throwing them out because the bottom of the pan looks like somethings been welded to it. This dish has been in constant use since we bought it and it still looks great, and still cooks great too. You can tell it's quality just by the weight of it! The only bad thing I could say about it is the handle comes loose every now and then and has to be tightened up again

Verified Purchase
MATERIAL : CAST IRON
COLOUR : CHILLI RED

Diameter 28 cm
Approximate maximum capacity : 6L

Boxed, comes complete with the Chasseur ribbon of authenticity, and a handy little usage/care booklet, which includes a recipe idea for each product range.

10 year guarantee.

Suitable for all heat sources.
Knob tolerant of oven temperatures up to 200°c, at the time of writing.
Dishwasher safe, if you can fit it in......but cast iron is remarkably easy to wash up, by hand, sometimes requiring a short soak and a rub with a plastic brush for any stubborn, baked on food remains.

I simply ADORE my Chasseur casserole dishes! They are heavy, so I'd imagine when full of your delicious stew ingredients they could prove a problem to carry with the very old and frail. Fortunately I have a little time on my hands before worrying about that and am anticipating a lot of stews and casseroles in my life this winter!
