Product Description

Product Description

Why Cast Iron?
Cast iron is an excellent conductor of heat which ensures an even heat distribution on all heat sources including induction.

Why French Cast Iron? Quite simply it's the best. The Ardennes region of France has been manufacturing premium quality cast iron cookware for generations.

Why Chasseur? Chasseur Cast iron is all hand crafted for consistent quality with a double coating of enamel. The primer coat seals the body while the coloured top coat not only provides an attractive appearance but also adds to the durability of the product and allows easy cleaning. The Chasseur range consists of Round and Oval Casseroles, Saucepans, Oval and Rectangular Serving Dishes and Roasters, Pate terrines, numerous Frypans and Grillpans plus Woks and Fondues.

Why Serving Dishes? Can be used on the hob, in the oven and under the grill for cooking and / or roasting plus ideal for serving. The attractive colourful appearance means they can go straight from the cooker to the table where due to the heat retention of the Cast Iron they will keep your food warm for second helpings. And when you've cooked and served they are easy to clean either in the dishwasher or in hot soapy water.

Amazon.co.uk Review

I’m a big fan of cast iron cookware – and this product does not disappoint. It met every expectation I had of a cast iron.

I really enjoy cooking with cast iron due to its vast benefits – it’s very solid (this one is extremely high quality), lasts a lifetime and they’re non-stick (so no evening spent scrubbing).

You won’t have to worry about hygiene as the surface the pan is impervious to flavours and odors and hence very hygienic. I’ve found the pot very handy for storing meals in the fridge after cooking. Handy tip – my mum uses her pots for marinating chicken in the fridge before she cooks it.

The above leads onto my next point that the pots are very adaptable, you can use them on almost any heat source, I have an electric hob, they can be chucked into the oven without worry, and what’s best is that they’re dishwasher safe!

But please be aware that if you’re going to buy cast iron you shouldn’t use it on a high heat, the enamel may chip if you do this – plus you get the best cooking results from a medium or low heat. The cast iron holds heat for a long time, so is great for cooking then straight to the table and it distributes heat evenly.

I found this pot very reasonable for the quality you get, it’s a nice piece to my collection and plus it comes with a 10 year guarantee so I’ll be using it for a very long time to come.--Danielle Smith, Amazon.co.uk

my daughter brought her chassuer with her when she came to stay - i was cross because i didnt want to have to give it house room. however she has not been allowed to leave until i had one to replace it - it is absolutely brilliant. i have a Rayburn cooker and was a bit worried that because of the handle i had to move the oven shelf down - in solid fuel cookers this makes a big difference. not with this. it cooks beautifully and is so versatile i use it for everything. they bought me a 'la cuisine' for Christmas but the chassuer is lighter weight - i would opt for the chassuer and 22cm seems a good useful size, at least to begin with. happy cooking.

I really like this range - we now have the griddle pan and the 22cm casserole dish in cream, and I plan to add more to my collection. We have a solid fuel aga so cast iron pans are a must, and this doesn't disappoint. We have also used it to cook on the gas hob with no problems, and it looks good enough to serve to the table too. Prices can vary wildly on these though, at the time of writing this review the 22cm pan is around £65, when I bought it it was under £40! Watch and wait is my advice, but definitely treat yourself when the price is right.

Extremely satisfied with this product.

It lives up to all expectations and compares very favourably with Le Creuset. I also have a Le Creuset so I can compare the two.

Being Cast Iron, they are heavy and you should be aware of this before you purchase.

They are wonderful to clean and take no effort at all. No need for the dishwasher. !

I am really pleased with this casserole: brilliant for cooking all kinds of soups, stews, sauces,... great in the oven as well. As the base gets very hot, the food might stick to it if not enough mixing is applied initially but it is very easy to wash. Heavy duty pot that will last a lifetime!

A little disappointed. Used casserole for first time and the knob disintegrated. Contacted manufacturer who said that some of the casserole knobs were faulty and that they would send me a replacement. Two weeks later and I am still waiting. I bought a different size for a friend's birthday and have told her of the problem and she has not yet used her casserole. If I do not hear from Dexam very soon, I will return both to Amazon as faulty goods. Not too happy at the moment. The actual casserole appears to be ok, but only used it once. I bought this casserole as I wanted two and Le Creuset would have been too expensive. Maybe a lesson learned, we shall see.
