Why Cast Iron?
Cast iron is an excellent conductor of heat which ensures an even heat distribution on all heat sources including induction.

Why French Cast Iron? Quite simply it's the best. The Ardennes region of France has been manufacturing premium quality cast iron cookware for generations.

Why Chasseur? Chasseur Cast iron is all hand crafted for consistent quality with a double coating of enamel. The primer coat seals the body while the coloured top coat not only provides an attractive appearance but also adds to the durability of the product and allows easy cleaning. The Chasseur range consists of Round and Oval Casseroles, Saucepans, Oval and Rectangular Serving Dishes and Roasters, Pate terrines, numerous Frypans and Grillpans plus Woks and Fondues.

Why Serving Dishes? Can be used on the hob, in the oven and under the grill for cooking and / or roasting plus ideal for serving. The attractive colourful appearance means they can go straight from the cooker to the table where due to the heat retention of the Cast Iron they will keep your food warm for second helpings.     Having wanted a casserole of this type from the other well known brand but not wanting to pay their prices (am I a cheapskate?)I purchased this item and am delighted with it. It is an excellent size for 2 people - important when the children fly the nest! It is bright and cheerful - easy to carry (use oven gloves) from hob/oven to work surface. I also found the booklet a bonus with some good recipe ideas.-

    Excellent size for dinner for two, transfers brilliantly from our gas hob to the oven for stews or casseroles. Great heat conduction, all over cooking and easy clean up!

    I decided to get some cast iron casseroles about a year ago but was waiting to spot the right bargain and just before Christmas Amazon had a deal on these that I could not ignore. They had the Chasseur Cast Iron Round Casserole 26cm, 22cm and 18cm for under £100 so I bought all three.
    I have used them all and they are absolutely brilliant. Browning meat is easy, the flavor is great and you only need a very low heat for a great result. One of the main reasons I bought these was to be able to do more slow cooking in the oven which I have done several times with very good results.

    Of course they are very heavy especially when laden with food and the handles get very hot but you will soon get use to that.
    It was also a nice surprise to find out that they are dishwasher safe but I haven't put them in the dishwasher yet partly because of their weight but mainly I rather not do that to protect the enamel coating from any possible damage.

    Well,these really are the must have coockware for anyone who enjoys cooking and good food.

    I have since bought the 26cm griddle pan too so my set is now complete.
