Book Description

8 Nov 2011
The story of one Tendulkar fan's unlikely mission to bowl just one ball at his hero during India's 2011 tour of England… From the very first time he watched Sachin Tendulkar bat as a 12-year-old boy, Adam Carroll-Smith was transfixed. He dreamed of not just bowling to the 'Little Master', but actually knocking his off stump over, too. The only problem was, he was never much of a cricketer. But determined not to let a small detail like that get in the way - and eager to settle an old score with a childhood chum - Carroll-Smith spends a hilarious summer trying to achieve the unthinkable, fending off the attention of over-zealous fans, crazed Italian spiritualists and his meddling best friend - not to mention the dozens of blazered officials and luminous-jacketed stewards standing between him and his hero.

About the Author

Former national newspaper sports reporter Adam has covered cricket and football around the country for the past two years. He is 27 and lives by the sea in Portsmouth. He really does love Sachin Tendulkar, Irish stout and heavily-salted pub snacks. Not necessarily in that order. A writer with an eye for the humorous and the offbeat, this is his first book.

I was recommended this book by a friend and it is a great read. Some very funny stories in there just about everyday life and growing up. I particularly loved the crazy brother (who reminds me of my own) and the mums name incident is priceless. This is a very easy read to the end and I would highly recommend for anyone who has spent time in whites.
