Well I have waivered between scoring this album four or five stars and there is no doubt that it is not a perfect album, however there is enough fantastic pop on here to award it the very top score available.

1.If This Is Love-A slice of pop perfection, fits well with the current trend of electro, synth driven pop music. 10/10
2.Up-For me this wasn't quite as good as their first single, but it's still fantastic. 9/10
3.Keep Her-It was listening to a clip of this song that convinced me to buy the album, it's angry, it's powerful, it's brilliant. 10/10
4.Issues-The first ballad of the album, it's a little cheesy, but still extremely likeable. 8/10
5.Lies-Back to their sassy best here, as this funky upbeat tune races through. 9/10
6.Work-The new single and what a cracker, a great track to work out to, or dance around to. 9/10
7.Chasing Lights-At first I disliked this, but it's really grown on me, a mid-tempo ballad. 9/10
8.Set Me Off-This is back to the upbeat and another strong tune. 8/10
9.Fall-Now this is where the album slips slightly in my mind; it simply isn't up to the standard that the rest sets. 7/10
10.Vulnerable-This is my least favourite tune here, it is forgettable and bland pop. 6/10
11.Why Me, Why Now-This is a great last track and worthy of finishing off a great album. 10/10
12.Up (Remix)-Rather a pointless and watered down version of the ordinary track. 7/10
13.Just Can't Get Enough-OK, so it's corny, cheesy, doesn't really fit in with the rest of the album and it's a cover, but who cares-it's fun! 10/10

I have to say I'm a sucker for a good pop song. When I went to see Girls Aloud perform, I had no idea what or who The Saturdays were. I was actually heading to the bar when they started their performance, but the second the first beat of the first song started, I was stopped in my tracks.

They were not polished, the dancing was a little bit sloppy but they were DEFINITELY talented, and sang every word live. I was pleasently surprised to find that two of the girls used to be in S Club Juniors, and was lucky to meet Vanessa after the show, and she was LOVELY in person.

'Is This is Love', the opening track to the album and the debut single, was a top 10 hit, and deservably so, a fine mesh of dance-able pop and catching lines. I was perhaps a little too proud when i saw them enter the charts at number 8.

The second song on the album and consiquently, the second single 'Up' is everything the first single was and more. A pumping, backgroud beat that would have made even the most concerning Kylie fan happy, and catchy chorus that will have you humming it all day.

'Keep Her' is my personal favourite, and hopefully a future single!

'Issues' is one of the ballads on the album, and i wouldn't be surprised if this is also a future single. I also wouldn't be surprised if the writer of this song has penned many other hits, perhaps some for Rihanna or Pussycat Dolls?

The next single is to be 'Work, Work', which is not as amazing as the first singles on first listen,. but is definitely a grower and will hopefully continue their success in the top 10!

Other album features are 'Set me Off' and 'Why me, Why now'.

Back in October of 2008, Fascination (the label responsible for the Pop Icons Girls Aloud) unleashed "Chasing Lights" from the then upcoming new girl band. And in hindsight, seven years down the line, the album remains one of my favourite pop albums.
Here's my track by track opinions of each song off the album...
'If This Is Love' - the debut single that did well for the girls, but definitely not the strongest song on the album
'Up' - one of the Sats most memorable songs and a great slice of pop.
'Keep Her' - Sassy, catchy, filled with girl power; great song
'Issues' - the 3rd single and probably the catchiest song off the album
'Lies' - single material. Features some of Frankie's best vocals and an overall fantastic song.
'Work' - in my opinion the Saturdays best song they've made, as close to perfect as they come.
'Chasing Lights' - truly great song - although i prefer the acoustic version which features all the girls having a solo, but none the less probably the second best song on the album. Again another missed single.
'Set Me Off' - another could-have-been single. Great harmonies, great lyrics.
'Fall' - my least favourite. Though a lot of fans love this song, to me its just seemed to age badly. Hearing it now, 7 years later, it sounds like a b-side.
'Vulnerable' - Not outstanding but not bad, this song still rests as 'track 10' for me - just a good pop song, nothing special!
'Why Me Why Now' - what a way to end the album. a definite fan fave that's full of old vibes and catchy lyrics!

Overall a well deserved 5 stars. An album that's full of single material. What more could you ask for on a debut?

I bought this on the strength of hearing the single "Up" and was half expecting the album to be a lot of fillers all sounding the same, but the majority of the songs on here are good, the songs to me all have a good melody, so I was pleasantly suprised when I listened to it all and there wasn't one song which I thought was duff. I love the electronic feel to it and in some cases reminded me of the Human Leauge. Danceable and funky. They of course have been likened to them but I have to say better than Girls Aloud on the whole. Vocals very strong and to the forefront, again stronger than GA.
