Product Description

BBC Review

Britain's latest girl group release their debut pop album, following the success of this summer's top ten hit, If This Is Love. The Saturdays are a feel-good five-piece act, with figures to die for and manicures to match. Of course, they look better than they sing, but hey, what did you expect? Destiny's Child were clearly a one off.

Infused with heavy helpings of disco, Chasing Lights is a brazen pop album, brimming with catchy hooks, girly melodies and light-hearted, uplifting beats. Sounding like an 80s throwback, the ladies' lead single If This Is Love opens the album with its synth-heavy sound. Next is recent single Up- a massive sing-a-long song, which should make Girls Aloud very scared indeed.

Flicking through the tracks, slow jam Issues leaps out as a standout number and if the marketing team play it right, this has all the potential to become that perfect Christmas hit. Meanwhile, tracks like Work and Lies can be skipped in an instant and have "filler" written all over. The album title track is another emotional ballad with all the markings of a chart hit, while the UK bonus Wideboys remix of 'Up' is cool pop genius. With plenty more chart potential, expect to be hearing and seeing a lot more from The Saturdays. --Elle J Small

CD Description

The Saturdays hugely successful debut album Chasing Lights is re-released with the addition of the stunning Comic relief single from the girls--a cover of Depeche Mode's catchy '80s anthem "Just Can't Get Enough".

Chasing Perfection 19 Mar 2009
By Sam VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
Well I have waivered between scoring this album four or five stars and there is no doubt that it is not a perfect album, however there is enough fantastic pop on here to award it the very top score available.

1.If This Is Love-A slice of pop perfection, fits well with the current trend of electro, synth driven pop music. 10/10
2.Up-For me this wasn't quite as good as their first single, but it's still fantastic. 9/10
3.Keep Her-It was listening to a clip of this song that convinced me to buy the album, it's angry, it's powerful, it's brilliant. 10/10
4.Issues-The first ballad of the album, it's a little cheesy, but still extremely likeable. 8/10
5.Lies-Back to their sassy best here, as this funky upbeat tune races through. 9/10
6.Work-The new single and what a cracker, a great track to work out to, or dance around to. 9/10
7.Chasing Lights-At first I disliked this, but it's really grown on me, a mid-tempo ballad. 9/10
8.Set Me Off-This is back to the upbeat and another strong tune. 8/10
9.Fall-Now this is where the album slips slightly in my mind; it simply isn't up to the standard that the rest sets. 7/10
10.Vulnerable-This is my least favourite tune here, it is forgettable and bland pop. 6/10
11.Why Me, Why Now-This is a great last track and worthy of finishing off a great album. 10/10
12.Up (Remix)-Rather a pointless and watered down version of the ordinary track. 7/10
13.Just Can't Get Enough-OK, so it's corny, cheesy, doesn't really fit in with the rest of the album and it's a cover, but who cares-it's fun! 10/10

Pop at its best 8 April 2009
By D. Wood
Format:Audio CD
I bought this on the strength of hearing the single "Up" and was half expecting the album to be a lot of fillers all sounding the same, but the majority of the songs on here are good, the songs to me all have a good melody, so I was pleasantly suprised when I listened to it all and there wasn't one song which I thought was duff. I love the electronic feel to it and in some cases reminded me of the Human Leauge. Danceable and funky. They of course have been likened to them but I have to say better than Girls Aloud on the whole. Vocals very strong and to the forefront, again stronger than GA.

I saw The Saturdays when they supported Girls Aloud earlier this year. They were very good live but I never thought about purchasing their album until I read the positive reviews on here. I purchased the album and I must say it is brilliant. Issues and Lies are excellent as is Up and Why me Why now. Each song is good, with If This is Love, in my opinion, being the least good on there but by no means bad.
I recommend, if you are a girl band fan to get this album and love it!
