4.0 out of 5 stars chasing dakar 18 Feb 2012
this book is pretty good, it goes into a lot of detail about preparation ,personal fitness, bike setup, the rally itself etc.
lots of photos aswell.
a lot of effort went into the book , although calling it a book is a bit of a stretch, its more like a large magazine, or annual magazine (think enduro illustrated) and it is expensive.
nonetheless if your a true fan of the dakar and rally raids in general, you'll be happy enough with this purchase, it is rare that people put this information together for this sport, it's still pretty niche.
there are one or two other books of late that will be interesting to check out as this one was written about 2006.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good beginner's guide for adventure riding 27 Mar 2007
By S. Huntley - Published on Amazon.com
I found this book to be a good beginner's guide for adventure riding/racing. The book isn't the end all "how to" manual of the entire Dakar rally but gives a really good overview on many important topics, and adventure riding in general. Lots of pictures and easy to read. Unlike the previous reviewer my book was not missing any paragraphs or words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Overview of the Dakar Rally 28 Mar 2007
By Baja Joe - Published on Amazon.com
The book has great photos of Dakar riders and the Dakar rally itself. It is written by the team doctor with help from the KTM Red Bull North American team members. I found the photos and insider information very interesting and informative. There is very good information on training, preparation and adventure riding "how to's". I found information and photos that simply are not published in any other book. Unlike the first reviewer with the 1 star, I throughly enjoyed the book and recommend it to anyone interested in the Dakar Rally, toughest motorized race on the planet!
3.0 out of 5 stars An ok read but very expensive for what it is. 27 Feb 2014

I found this book to be an ok read but it was not as informative as expected and advertised (rather basic information) and it is now quite outdated with regards to some of the topics regarding the Dakar. If the price was reduced considerably then you could justify buying it, otherwise do not bother!
4.0 out of 5 stars Good Guide for Adventure and Rally Riding 16 Aug 2008
By sseale - Published on Amazon.com
This book provides a good introduction into adventure and rally riding. It covers everything from riding techniques to physical training. This book is not a comprehensive guide to riding. Rather it is a good strarting point for people interested in adventure riding or rally riding.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for potential motorcycle rally riders! 7 Dec 2009

This book is full of info you simply will not find anyplace else... but serves a fairly specialized audience. If you are interested in preparing for, or simply knowing what it takes, to race in an endurance road book motorcycle rally, this is it! A steal at $20.
