As a touring cyclist myself, I was looking for insight, ideas, detail and most of all inspiration, unfortunately this 'book' has little of any of these. It is misleading to call it a book, more a series of short, personal notes cut and pasted into an Ebook format (more on that later). The style is old fashioned, the language unnecessarily flowery and often turgid in character. Potentially interesting matters are raised and then dropped without expanding. Description of places and people is superficial, at best, and as a result I found it difficult to understand who was involved, their relationship to the writer and their background. As many will be unfamiliar with Japanese geography, a route map would have been helpful - alas nothing. Finally, and I don't know if this was due to some malfunction downloading the book in Kindle format, the editing was poor and general mistakes littered the text throughout, at times making it unreadable; it was as if the 'book' had been written in Japanese and then converted through a translation programme without any further manual editing. Altogether a good idea spoilt in so many ways.
