Product Description

Synopsis

Renowned nature photographer, Jim Brandenberg, set himself the challenge of taking just one photograph a day for 90 days between the autumnal equinox and the winter solstice. This book is the result of that personal project, set in the woods that lie between Canada and the US. The work was featured in the November 1997 "National Geographic Magazine" where all 90 photographs were used. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

best of the breed 15 Dec 1999

Impressive. Nature photography doesn't get any better than this, plus the insight one gains about the author's ways and thoughts is priceless. Design is impressive, too. One of the shining stars of my collection. Buy it. And buy it NOW. You won't regret it, ever.

A very beautiful book 17 July 1999
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
I came across this book, because I am from Minnesota and this book has received praise from many local publications. If Jim Brandenburg's photos are the bread of the book, then the design of the book is the butter. The wounded wolf paw overlay on the cover is excellent. When I first got it in the mail, I spent 2 hours looking through the book. A great gift for anyone from Minnesota or the surrounding area.

a terrific book 23 Sep 2011
Format:Paperback
Didn't know much about this book before i bought it, but i'm interested in nature/landscape photography, so i thought i'd give it a go, especially for the price, very reasonable.

Well i'm very glad i did, it is a lovely book, full of rich, interesting pictures, that really give a feel for the environment he chose to carry out this 1 picture a day project in.

Alongside the many images is the text, supplied by Jim Brandenburg, this helps brings the pictures to life and gives you an idea of why he did what he did and how it affected him. There is not loads of text, but just enough to set the scene on the endeavour, and reflect on its repercussions, it's very honest and thought provoking stuff.

The end of the book is dedicated to him revisiting the sites he had previously photographed, after a tornado had ripped through the area, in some ways i found this the best part of the book, obviously the images of destruction and chaos in areas that a few pages back were perhaps serene or ordered, have a certain interest to them, but it was mainly due to the text supplied by Jim, as he visited these areas and how it made him feel, not just about what he was seeing, but how the human race as a whole deals with the power and unpredictability of nature, how they cope, or not, with something they cannot control. I found it pretty inspiring.

So overall, if you like nature photography, and you like pondering how we interact with it, both good and bad, and you want to do this without sepnding too much money, then this is the book for you.
