Archeologists, as well as those learned in contemporary religion, clearly point out that a belief in and use of magick (the old English spelling of the word) has existed since man's early history. Read the first page

4.0 out of 5 stars In some places brilliant ,in other's rubbish an average book, 12 Aug 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Charms, Spells and Formulas (Llewellyn's Practical Magick Series) (Paperback)
This book doesn't contain many spells but does contain alot of info on stones, candles (and the days that they represent) and how to make a gris-gris bag.The main section is called "doll magic" and includes how to make a voodoo doll (for good purposes). I found this book average but I prefered: "Sacred Magic" (also available on amazon). Generally an average book...

4.0 out of 5 stars This Vodoun/Witchcraft syncretist LOVED it!, 17 July 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Charms, Spells and Formulas (Llewellyn's Practical Magick Series) (Paperback)
As a Witch who also practices Vodoun, I was comforted when I read this book. Malbrough showed me that I do not have to reinvent the wheel in combining these religions. I loved all the oils and other recipes, and the book gives me many ideas for my own spells and rituals. It's an excellent introduction to poppet magick for any Pagan! I am impressed that he dealt with modern problems such as addiction and juvenile delinquency, too.

My only complaints are that Malbrough's chants are pretty weak (but I can write my own) and that he uses folksy (read, uncommon) names for herbs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting with complete instructions!, 3 April 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Charms, Spells and Formulas (Llewellyn's Practical Magick Series) (Paperback)
This book was one of my favorite books that I have on my bookshelf. It had all the instruction that I needed to make my own dolls, oils, incense, powders, washes and it also had a few good spells in it.It also had diagrams of all the doll rituals in it that explained how to set up your altar and where to put everything.I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in doll magick, voodoo or creating your own spell ingredients.
