This is a great work from Dave Douglas (trumpet), Guy Klucevsek (accordion), Mark Feldman (violin) not heard in all tracks, and Greg Cohen (acoustic bass). All pieces are beautifully crafted by the wonderful interplay and warm sounds from the four instruments. Interactions between trumped and accordion are especially gorgeous. For example listen to "Little One" (originally written by Herbie Hancock) and compare it with the versions on Miles Davis ESP and Hancock Maiden Voyage. The melody is immediately recognizable, flowered with a special romantic, minimalist, mysterious and charming atmosphere. If you love Dave Douglas you can't miss this CD. Recorded sound is great as well. Enjoy it again and again!

Dave Douglas' Charms of the Night Sky' is a wonderful blend of soulful slow jazz describing the waves of the sea, livened up by an energising virtuose solo trumpet. Influences of chipsey tunes brighten up the moody and melodic.
This is a 'feel good in the morning' tape that takes you into its flow and keeps you going for the whole day.
Ideal for lengthy continental breakfasts and brunchs with friends, especially reunions!
