So now to the downside. As I've said, there are some really great songs on the CD. But Mariah's adopted a different style of singing in her last 2 /3 albums. She sings every song in a higher tone, all the way through. It's quite hard to explain but if you compare Charmbracelet to any of the earlier CDs you understand what I'm saying. It lacks the true strength and range of Mariah's voice. To be honest, listening to Vision of Love and Someday, then Through The Rain (or any other song on Charmbracelet) it really does sound like a completely different person.
But nevertheless, Mariah still has a truly unique voice and the album still reflects this. True, Charmbracelet isn't going to provide Mariah with any timeless classics, such as Hero, My All, Fantasy etc but it does make great listening and I would recommend any Mariah fan adds it to their collection. It is a fresh and well-awainted return and I predict that things are only going to get better!!
