Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

If you're considering a water feature--anything from a trickling runlet to a full blown pond--who better to guide you through the trials and tribulations of building a water feature than TV expert Charlie Dimmock? In this CD-ROM she talks you through the steps in designing a water feature taking you through the initial planning stages to choosing your construction materials and bringing it all together.

The design is plotted on screen, and you can populate it with plants chosen from a database as well as adding other garden furniture from a library of items on the CD. You can even add some fish for that really authentic feel--information on how to choose and care for them is included in the step by step guide. The plant library includes information on care too, which you can add to Charlie's general tips on water feature maintenance to ensure year on year your water feature is at its best.

To get an idea of how your water feature will look at different times of the year you can get the computer to generate a view for a particular a month and time of day. This is especially helpful if you are looking for all-round colour, design features and so on. Charlie Dimmock's Water Garden Designer has plenty to see you through the stages of building your own water feature. It is particularly well suited to anyone tackling the job for the first time. --Sandra Vogel

At first glance this CD sounds wonderful no more pen and paper to plot out your water feature. We cannot not get this CD to work however on Windows 98 not Windows XP. The telephone helpline number on the inside cover, after 2 weeks of trying to contact them, we found that Europress was no longer there. The web site gave us an 0870 number, as we live abroard that cannot be contacted from here. We sent an email stating the problems we were having. After a few days we received a very nice call from someone at Europress who informed us that they could not help, as they took over Europress a few years ago and they now only do educational CD's. So I am afraid I could not recommend this CD. On one of the very many sites I tried to find help, I found another lady who had experienced similar problems. So I am afraid it would be better to stick to designing your water feature with pen and paper.
