We've had Charlie and Lola fever since this landed on our mat a week ago. Both my 4 and 2 year old love this. It's also quite long so keeps them occupied! It has a lovely sentiment and promotes good sibling relationships. We love it!

Having seen over 20 episodes televised on the CBeebies channel, I presumed that there would be more episodes on this DVD rather than the 7 it actually contains. My only other criticism is that the 'Hilarious Outtakes' mentioned on the box seem almost none existent. I've looked at everything on the DVD and can't find them. All I do find is a sequence about Lola being a bit silly [with lots of hats] and a clip put together from the voice-over recording of the episodes - blink and you'll miss it!
Having said that, we do love Charlie and Lola so we'll get over this initial disappointment very quickly - looking forward to the next DVD being released!

When I pre-ordered this DVD it was promoted as having loads of episodes, and I was really excited, errrr, I mean my 3 year old was really excited at the prospect of all that Charlie & Lola.
I feel a little miffed that only 7 espisodes were featured, but, like all the other people who have posted their reviews, it's still Charlie & Lola, and we still love it!
Maybe next time Amazon will be more accurate with their pre-ordering details.

My daughter and I love Charlie and Lola. Although it's kept her captivated since its arrival, I have to say that I am quite disppointed with the amount of episodes on the DVD (only 7) and the very, very poor special features.
The jigsaw game is uninspired and maybe they should have looked to the Playhouse Disney Charlie and Lola site for inspiration. As for the hilarious outtakes and hidden surprises, I think these two terms somewhat stretch the truth. All I could find (including opening up all the files on my PC) was Lola putting on hats and her babbling into a microphone.
I am glad I paid the Amazon price for this DVD as it's a bit steep for what you get. For such an highly original show which stands out from all the dross out there for kids it's a pity more time wasn't spent puting this DVD together.
Despite this the animation, writing and voices of Charile and Lola are so brilliant that the slight naffness of the DVD features and lack of episodes can be forgiven.

My 5yo and 2yo boys love Charlie & Lola. A lot.
The TV is faithful to the excellent books, if anything better. A big factor in buying DVDs for kids is being able to see it many times without wanting to slash your own wrists. This passes that test.
Although you may see it through Disney, it is not Disney in style. It uses longer words and imagination, not qualities you associate with Disney.
But what makes Charlie & Lola unique is that it's not girly, albeit written by a woman. Practically every book and TV programme has the girls as the sensible smart ones, and the boys being loud, foolish with occasional thuggery. Although Charlie is not portrayed as perfect, he is the sensible one. I'm not obsessed with media images of boys, but this is a good one.

Love it, love it, love it - oh yes and my 4 year old daughter does too :-) A very wry and gentle observation of a 5 year old girl and her 7 year old brother. The most caring and understanding brother you could wish for. Can be watched at 2 levels - by the target audience (4-6?) and by their addicted parents. The style of animation is new and fresh, yet the tone is comfortingly redolent of the innocent 1970s childhood I had! Down side is that Series 1 on TV had over 20 episodes, so why only 7 on this DVD?

Though this DVD has not come out yet, I have seen most of the episodes on the Disney Channel, and I can't tell you how much I love them all! My 7 mo old son loves them too. It is one of those shows that I am constantly looking for in the TV guide and telling friends with kids how cute it is. I plan on buying anything this series puts out. Love, love, love!

Like the previous reviewer, I have seen most the Charlie and Lola episodes on CBeebies before the DVD release and I have to say my 2 year old son is totally obsessed! My husband and I have to refer to it as 'C & L' rather than the full title, otherwise he will cry until we put it on! Off the back of watching this, I tried to buy the books for him, but all the local bookshops have sold out due to demand.
Must admit that the characters are charming and the animation is great to watch, particularly the more imaginative storylines, like ‘I Won’t Ever Eat A Tomato’. It also doesn't 'dumb down' to small children in which some kids programmes can do.
Looking forward to series two.
