The work is great - the reproduction is not.

This review is for the smaller shrunken version of the full size book.
This is, very clearly, a hastily scaled down replica of the large book - which sounds great on the surface - but you can't take a huge book designed for a set size, scale it down and print it with any decent result:
- The introduction type is miniscule.
- Many of the pieces of artwork are scaled down so much that detail is lost.
- The el-cheapo 4-color printing leaves much to be desired. No spot colors anywhere. :(
- Colors are not rich, nor very accurate.
- Dot density of the printing is unbelievably coarse
- Many pages have a clear moire pattern from either poor scanning, production or printing. (or all three)
- Incredibly, registration is very clearly off by up to 2 millimeters in several pages. This might sound like a lot, but it gives the very graphic edges of Charleys work a fuzzy, blurry smudgy edge.
- Binding is cheap
Extremely disappointed in the production & design of this book.
But hey, it's $20 - so you get what you pay for.
If you love Charley's work, but are on a budget - this might do for you.
For a graphic designer with discerning taste and a critical eye - this is just short of a nightmare.

Fanciful fun!

I discovered Charley Harper's work rather recently and I am in love. His work always puts a smile on my face and inspires me to be creative. This book is lovely. The images are beautifully reproduced and delightful. The introduction was well-written and fun to read (I usually just skip to the pictures, so this is a compliment to Todd Oldham's writing). I agree with another reviewer who mentioned that the type in the introduction was small, but it wasn't impossible to read and it helped to turn on my reading light.

Gorgeous Book!

This was a gift for my husband for Christmas and we absolutely love it! Really, it's one of my best purchases on Amazon. The colors are amazing and the print quality is beautiful. The book is actually a bit smaller than I expected, but it works just fine for the size that it is. Great price, great book, I'm really happy with this purchase!
