I have read some wonderful reviews of Bronson movies on Amazon, affectionate and witty so i felt i owed it to myself to purchase this collection of Bronsons 80s movies, bought to you by the great now defunct Canon Pictures, all directed by J Lee Thompson, who directed the original Cape Fear and all these variants on Bronsons Death Wish template. All four movies are awful in that cheesy ironic way,low production values allowing only a set amount of explosions per movie and god awful script writing.Sexism, racism, voyeurism are abdundant in all 4 movies as our Charlie distributes his somewhat questionable poetic justice. These films are great in there turn off your brain quality and reassuring in their sameness.I can still remember being a kid in the 80s and seeing these chunky vhs adorned with Bronson pointing a big gun in the video shops,my mum would not let me watch them of course. These films are relics and i could not help feeling Bronson coulda made infinetly better films,he has the most wonderfully aged face and an air of melancholy.I suppose he took the large paychecks these films payed, apparently it was lots of money. The film studio obviously spent all the money on Bronson, chucked the films out and made bucks from overseas markets. Not everyone wants a Last Tango In Paris, some want to see an old bloke smacking a pimp/pyscho killer/junky.I would say to anyone slaving over a script, aiming for perfection should check these movies out.Drop the gravitas, sod the art,do one about a cop hunting a killer sous chef.Anyway this is a good set,bad in that enjoyable way some call "ironic" but i would say moronic.Go on The Bronson!!Next up the works of Chuck Norris.
