If you are reading this you probably have an interest in the film and so I won't comment upon it except to say it remains a masterpiece.
I was very happy to see that Chariots of Fire was being released on blu-ray. Upon playing the disc, the picture quality was an obvious improvement on any other home video release. Colours were warm and stable and the clarity of the picture - from the pores of people's faces to the threads of tweed in their jackets were well defined.
HOWEVER, the sound on this disc, which is supposed to be master audio, is very muddy and weak. Dialogue suffers and in places is very muffled.
Worse still, at 1 hour 24 minutes the disc grinds to a halt during Liddle's race. No pressing of play, stop or FW/Rev will help it. The disc must be ejected. Having read the other reviews on this page I see I am not alone. I tried the disc in a Sony, Philips and my Mac's external Blu ray drive with teh same result.
I call upon the company who produced this disc to reauthor and offer an exchange program as all retailers can do is exchange or refund. Those of us who want to watch the film want to watch it in one go without ejecting and missing a large part of the plot.
Five stars for the movie, one star for the disc errors, average score three - should be a five!!
