Having read the other reviews, and looked at alternatives, I plumped for the Compaq Presario CQ61/CQ71 Laptop Adapter Charger. It turns out that it was a good choice: cheap, and a perfect replacement for the broken one. It doesn't even seem to run as hot as the original either, so no overheating problems, and it doesn't keep dropping out.

The charger arrived in good time and at a fair price it fits and works, although obviously yet to see what the life is of the product, but happy with the order and delivery.

A little larger than the OEM PSU supplied with the laptop (now failed) so may run a bit cooler. Long mains cable but slightly shorter to laptop. Works well so far (weeks),

Not for TV dinners
