I found this CD-ROM a really helpful way to get past thinking "it'd be so cool to play guitar" to actually playing real notes and chords. Since the average person is not born with an innate knowledge of how to play musical instruments, the very basic beginning is great. You can progress through the lessons surprisingly quickly, which is gratifying and motivational in itself. However, I was a bit disappointed that there was not more content to keep working on. Nevertheless, the format of the CR-ROM is really well thought-through and makes everything very clear - even for music duffers like myself! But be warned - do not buy if you already know more than two chords and the names of all the strings: get the next one in the series!!

Understand what they mean by first lessons,

This is little more than a demo for the more advanced tuition CDs in the range. The polished production certainly makes me regret I didn't order one of those instead, that is, if they have more content than this one. The brief lessons here are thorough but the assumption is you have no idea at all about guitars and this gives only the most fundamental of starts.Two short basic tunes, (Amazing Grace and Morning Moods) a few chords and a recomendation to buy the next volume are all it imparts. So, don't underate what you know about the guitar--if that is absolutely nothing (and I can't imagine then what made you take it up) including what a guitar looks and sounds like, then this might just be for you. But I doubt it.
