    My little girl played with this for hours when we stayed with friends for a holiday, I was amazed at the time she spent creating little bead pictures and models. The only drawback was picking up tiny beads that inevitably ended up on the floor but overall she had great fun playing with it (my 13 year old son even had a go!) I have bought this for her Christmas as it's one of the presents she has asked for.

    I bought this toy over a year ago, but then there were a few newspaper articles highlighting problems with the safety of the beads. I put the toy to the back of a cupboard and contacted the manufacturer who sent out new safer beads some months later (I think the new beads were in development a while, hence the wait).

    As it's a rainy day today, I pulled the toy out of the back of the cupboard where it had been languishing, and inserted the new beads for my daughter.

    What a disaster, the new beads are slightly too big for the holes that are meant to hold them whilst you put the design together. This just has the effect of knocking any correctly placed beads out of alignment, which is very frustrating for a young child and for a parent who is trying to help. It is just such a fiddly, unworthwile affair, that I won't put the toy to the back of the cupboard again - I think I shall just put it in the bin!

    My daughter was given this for her 4th birthday and i would recomend it. It is not something to be rushed and def. needs adults help to get started but the more we use the more confident my daughter gets.
    You chose your design and place the guide under the correct holder it tells you how many beads of each colour you need so the child then releases the correct number into the pen ready to place over the design.
    The beads are very very small but i've taught my daughter that it must be kept out of reach from her baby sister!

    My daughter was given one and loves it, so got one for my niece who is also thrilled. Recommend getting a refil pack with it as the beads run out fairly quickly.
