Product Description

Our spider sense is tingling here at Entertainer HQ. Because this most innovative of robots adds more than just a twist of Spidey-like ingenuity! Developed by NASA scientist Mark Tilden using his ground-breaking hard-wired BEAM technology, Spidersapien is modelled not on the clunky robots of old, but on biological life-forms. As a result, he's undergone a substantial deconstruction and reengineering in the Tilden lab to deliver authentic Spider-like motion, speech, mannerisms, actions and more! Substantial modification has occurred deep in his core, even enabling him to replicate the internationally acclaimed web-slinging action of the superhero himself! A fully modified control unit provides access to no fewer than four different programming modes and movement sequences of up to 84 steps , with six distinct commands for each side of his rippling body! As ever with Spiderman, it's his insect-like nervous system that mark him out as special. Advanced interactive reflexes enable him to respond to touch, sound and obstacles in his path . In fact, he's a robot so advanced, you could be forgiven for thinking he's human... Look out... here comes the Spidersapien!

My View of This Toy 18 Jan 2008
A Kid's Review - Published on Amazon.com
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
This toy is very interesting. It's sort of like a human, but a baby at the same time. I like to watch it dance - it's very funny. I also like making it grab stuff and throw it. It can walk right right to left and forwards and backwards....and you can make it burp and whistle.

If you have a kid that is interested in figuring things out and likes to control something, then this toy is perfect!

Very Disappointed 17 Dec 2008

The toy is great except for they lied with the picture. It is not the Spider man one, it is just the plan white one. Thanks to the deception of the picture my son is not getting what he wanted for Christmas. Very disappointed that they would lie to their customers like this. Stay away from this product.

The toy you always wanted 10 Jan 2009
By Idaho wilds - Published on Amazon.com
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
I purchased the Spider-sapien from another vendor (not amazon), for my 2.5 year old for Christmas. Mine has different eyes. This robot ROCKS - literally. He goes through a dance routine complete with his own music. All the kids dance along.

Initially I thought it would be too advanced for my son - and many parts of it are (for example you can program a series of movements to occur with one button) - but surprisingly he can manage most movements.

The remote control is big but that works really well for keeping track of it among all the other toys. My 5 year old is also really intrigued by the toy. I'm a little nervous about the toy and tend to keep a closer eye on it than some of the other toys because of the cost. Also be ready to spend some money on batteries (the robot takes 4 Ds and the remote takes another set of AAs).
These are the robots that I used to wish for when I was a kid.
