5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! 23 Nov 2010

Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this on a whim recently after seeing it at a much reduced price, and I am absolotely bowled over by it!

Basically, there is a grid 3 x 3 which light up in either red or blue, and you have to rearrange the lights to match a given pattern. The way that you "shuffle" the lights is quite clever; at first (after seeing the pictures) I assumed that you twisted the top face 90 degrees, but this is not the case. By PARTIALLY turning the top face in one direction it will move all the lights on one space - except the middle light - so you do not really twist it, instead you kinda "nudge" it in one direction. Additonally, rather than twisting it 90 degrees, you can also "push" it up, down, left or right to move all the squares on 1 space in that direction. (If the light is one the edge it reappears on the other side) Don't worry if this sounds complicated - it is really very simple and quite intuitive.

With 3 difficulty settings and 9 volume levels, this is a cracking little stocking filler! Buy one today!

I thought i had already reviewed this item. however here goes. I bought this item as a present for my husband as he is fond of puzzles. This is a really fun item and he can hardly put it down. When he does I grab it and have a go. So far it has defeated me but i won't give up trying. Good fun for all the family. Would recommend this for all the big kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tons of fun 3 Jan 2011

Got this for Christmas from my wife. Totally addictive - once you pick it up, you can't put it down - even at 1am! Only downside is that it's quite heavy on the batteries but overall a great present and well worth the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, if a little repetitive 20 May 2011

I'm a fan of the Rubik's Cube so a friend bought me a Slide for my birthday. It's a fun little puzzle - there are three difficulty settings and even the easiest will have you scratching your head to begin with.
It's very simple to play. You are presented with a grid of coloured squares, and you have to manouvre them into a new pattern. You can see your target pattern by holding down a button, and you move the squares around by either sliding the top of the puzzle or by twisting it. If you slide it up, for example, all the squares move up by one and the ones at the top wrap around to the bottom. Twisting the puzzle makes the squares rotate.
It's a little bit like one of those sliding puzzles where you have to rearrange the tiles to make a picture. The differences are in the rotation and the fact that the tiles wrap around - it makes the Rubik's Slide feel a bit more complete and a lot more difficult than those tile puzzles!
It's pretty addictive and, if you like fairly difficult puzzles, it's good fun too. However, there are some negatives. The main one is that you can't use it in bright light - the 'grid' on the front of the puzzle is made of semi-translucent plastic with coloured lights behind. When you're in bright light it's almost impossible to see the colours on the grid. I also find the sound effects a bit annoying. You can turn them off, but without them the device feels lacking in feedback, somehow. It's better with the sounds on, even though they are annoying! My final concern is with the physical quality of the puzzle - the plastics feel a little cheap and it doesn't feel like it will stand up to the twisting and sliding for ever such a long time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice puzzle 17 Mar 2013

This puzzle has 3 difficulty levels.
The first level everyone can solve, so everyone would like this puzzle.
The second level is a bit more challenging.
The third level is the fun one for me, with really challenging puzzles to solve.
