For a little while, this set will appeal to the side of boys that likes to see things crash/ 'fight'. But only a little while, because that's pretty much 'it' as far as the functionality of this goes. There seems to be a collectables side to the design that hasn't taken off, so it's unlikely to appeal to the kids on that front.
For your money, you get: 2 characters, 2 tops to sit the characters on, 2 'rip-cord' style keys to start the tops and 1 arena ring for the tops to bash against one another in a confined space. The arena ring is small - at most, maybe 8 inches in diameter - and certainly a good bit less than my hand span (I'm a 5'5" woman, so my hands aren't exactly massive!). The packaging is big (excessive) and the characters themselves unimpressive: blocky and badly painted.
At the RRP, you're being had. At some of the reduced prices, you might be able to snag an OK stocking filler appealing to lads' baser instincts.
