Really small set this. Picture doesn't really show how small this set it is. Quite expensive for what it is, not as good quality as proper lego. But my son loves it, despite the animals being so small they could come in a kinder egg...

My son is animal mad and he loves the Deadly 60 TV show, he already had some of the individual animals but wanted some of the larger sets for his 5th birthday. This set comtains the male lion micro deadly (exclusive to this set, a Steve figure, a car and trailer and some scenery of mountain, desert/sand and water.
The lion himself is fairly small, only a couple of inches or so in length (definitely micro) but is nicely detailed. The l comes in several pieces, this means that if you have other micro deadlies the parts are interchangeable and you can make silly animals. The lion is made of a rubbery material and is easy to construct. It is probably worth noting that the animals and Steve do not attach to the lego style scenery but can easily balance and stalk around the set. I think it is a shame that a lioness isn't included within this set but it is possible to buy separately.
The car and trailer are easy to build and it's a nice addition to the set, Steve fits nicely into the car and doesn't seem to fall out even when driven at speed. My son keeps Steve's video camera in the chest. The hammock/tent (my son uses it as both) is a nice touch and is realistic to the TV programme where Steve and his team often have to camp out in the wild.
The scenery is very similar to lego (in fact lego pices attach perfectly to this so could mix and match with other lego sets). I thought it was just as straight forward to build as lego and there are lots of big chunky pieces included as well as the traditionally smaller pieces, I thought that the pices attached together just as easily as lego and found the quality to be very similar. Like all lego style toys there are some very small pieces so it probably isn't suitable for young children.

This is basically a 'Lego' type building set. It contains 2 figures: Steve and a lion (not lioness)and several plastic bags of bits and pieces to build the set and the jeep. The figures are quite small but I had seen them before so expected that.

My 5 year old grandson, who requested "some Steve Backshall lego" for his birthday, was absolutely delighted with it. Construction was too complicated for the 5 year old but took his 11 year old brother a matter of minutes. The instructions were comprehensive and easy to follow.

Said 5 year old was quite happy to put his separately purchased walrus; duck billed platypus; lioness; snakes; crocodile and killer whale etc. into his jungle along with Steve and the lion.

Result was one very happy little boy so I can't knock it!

Character Options Character Building Deadly Deluxe Safari (Set of 60) This set contains too many small bricks and parts for a 6 year old. We bought it for our grand daughter and whilst she enjoys playing with it there are bits falling off it all the time. It took almost 2 hours to put it together even using the helpful picture directions.
The jeep and figure are quite big so easy to play with but the trailer could have been much bigger to allow for parts to be put inside it.
Overall a very disappointing toy for the cost!

Having read the reviews I was happy to purchase I manged to get it for £10 (do not pay rrp of £30 for this) it is total rubbish it doesn't fit together well and keeps falling apart it took me two hours to assemble and two seconds for my 6 year old son to destroy it as its flimsy. Definitely stick to real Lego. The little animals are pretty cool though.

Purchased as a present for a child, and has proved to good at keeping him interested. Also teaches about animals and their environment.

Delivery time was excellent and when my son first opened it on his birthday he was delighted. That's about it for positive comments.
The pieces are very, very small, lots of them and they don't clip together very well at all.
My son loves lego and has endless patience making their items. This was too frustrating for him (he's 6). Even the animals come apart and they are only 2 or 3 pieces stuck together. Poor quality and, once made, cannot really be played with because the pieces don't stay together. Even at a tenner I would not recommend this so, for the best part of £30, I would steer clear.

Good set for Deadly 60 fans. I had to assemble it but once done both my 4 and 6 year old enjoyed playing with it.
